🐺 Every Moment Matters at ASA!

We are incredibly proud of our ASA community for coming together to represent our school at the recent charter renewal Board Hearing! Hearing Mrs. Sena, an ASA parent who has been with us from the beginning, share how much her daughters love coming to school, along with our 5th Grader LeviĀ Ā and 8th grader, Jaiden sharing what ASA means to them, was a powerful reminder of the impact we make every day.Ā

These stories reflect the safe, caring environment we continue to build together!

Important Date:Ā The FUSD's Board vote on our charter renewal is now scheduled forĀ November 4th.
.

AI Exploration Community of Practice

We are also excited that team members representingĀ both ASA campusesĀ attended the kickoff for the 2026–2027 AI Exploration Community of Practice through Silicon Schools Fund.Ā ASA was selected as one of only 10 schools from hundreds of applicants!Ā We are grateful for this opportunity to explore AI and develop innovative, student-centered ways to enhance learning.
šŸš— Arrival & Dismissal Safety Reminders
Please help us keep our Wolves safe by keeping the front gate walkway clear and standing to the sides rather than gathering in the main pathway. This allows our staff to safely guide students to vehicles while maintaining clear visibility. Please also avoid double parking or stopping in the driveway to talk with other parents, as this creates unsafe conditions and disrupts traffic flow. Thank you for doing your part to keep arrival and dismissal safe for everyone!

ā˜• Join Us Thursday for Howling with the Community!

We are excited to welcomeĀ Melissa Greene, our partner from TNTP, who will share insights from TNTP’s report,Ā The Opportunity Myth, and discuss how this work connects to our partnership and the steps we are taking at ASA this school year. The report is recognized as essential reading for understanding how opportunity gaps show up in students’ everyday learning experiences.
We look forward to connecting with our families, sharing our work, and continuing the conversation about how we can ensure every student has access to meaningful, high-quality learning opportunities.

We hope to see you Thursday!Ā

Together, we are making a difference in the lives of our Wolves!

School Reminder: Campus Safety, Fragrances, and Glass Bottles

We would like to remind families about an important campus safety concern. Recently, we have noticed an increase in students bringing glass bottles of perfume and cologne to school and spraying them in classrooms and restrooms.
While we appreciate our students taking pride in their personal grooming, this has created health and safety concerns on campus:

Health & Safety:
Strong fragrances and excessive spraying can trigger allergic reactions, headaches, and respiratory issues, particularly for individuals with asthma. To help maintain a safe and comfortable breathing environment for everyone, our classrooms and shared spaces should remain fragrance-free.

Glass Bottles:
Glass containers can break and cause serious injuries. Per school policy, glass containers are not permitted on campus.

How Families Can Help:
  • Please remind your student toĀ apply perfume or cologne at homeĀ before coming to school.
  • Please ensure thatĀ glass fragrance bottles stay at homeĀ and are not brought in backpacks.
  • Talk with your middle schooler about how strong or excessive fragrances can affect the health and well-being of classmates and staff.

Moving forward, any glass fragrance bottles brought to campus or fragrances sprayed in common spaces may be confiscated by staff and held for parent/guardian pickup, in accordance with our student conduct and discipline guidelines.
Thank you for your understanding and partnership in helping us maintain a safe, healthy, and welcoming campus for everyone. šŸ’ššŸ’›

🐺 Wolf Skill of the Week: Identifying & Demonstrating Emotions 🌟

Identifying and demonstrating emotions means noticing what is happening inside your mind and body like feeling happy, frustrated, or nervousĀ Ā and choosing safe, healthy ways to express those feelings.

As we grow, we learn to understand bigger feelings, speak up about what we need, and use self-control to handle tough situations and get along with others. Recognizing our emotions helps us better understand ourselves, make positive choices, and respond to challenges in healthy ways. šŸ’š

šŸ’¬ Character Skill Reflections:
  • How does your body give you clues before you are about to feel a big emotion?
  • What is one strategy you can use to help you through those big emotions?

If you have any questions or would like counseling support for your child, you can reach Mr. Thornhill atĀ (909) 258-9937Ā or via email atĀ aodhan.thornhill@asathrive.org

CAMPUS & FACILITIES UPDATE

We know our families and Wolves are eager for updates on our campus environment. We want to provide our families with an update on our physical campus—both the direct improvements our team has implemented and the status of district-managed projects.

School-Led Improvements
To ensure our students have a secure and comfortable learning environment, our ASA Fontana team has directly initiated and completed several recent upgrades:
  • Upgraded Security Surveillance: A comprehensive security camera system is currently being installed across campus to enhance overall safety and monitoring.
  • Filtered Water Hydration Station: A new filtered water refill station has been installed, giving students easy access to clean drinking water throughout the day.
  • Targeted Climate Control: In response to an outage in one of our classroom AC units, FUSD installed a mobile air conditioning unit to keep the space comfortable until the primary unit's full replacement.

District-Managed Property & Playground Status

Because ASA Fontana leases our campus facility, capital improvements and structural property developments are managed through Fontana Unified School District (FUSD).
While the initial playground installation phase has been completed on the campus, the space requires a few remaining finishing items and final safety inspections before it can be officially opened for regular student use.
  • Prioritizing Student Safety: Ensuring the space fully meets all required safety and operational standards is top priority. The playground area will open once final clearance steps are complete by FUSD.
  • Ongoing Coordination: Our administration remains in regular communication with district staff to receive updates on the project schedule, final inspections, and next steps for completion.

We share our families' enthusiasm for a fully completed campus and appreciate your patience while these final property details are finalized. We will continue to share updates as soon as confirmed timelines are provided by the district.
