As we settle into the first few weeks of school, students are learning new routines, building relationships, and discovering their place within our ASA community. It’s an important time of year—and a great opportunity for school and home to work together to help every child feel connected, confident, and ready to learn.
We’re excited to introduce Thrive at Home: Building Strong Habits for Student Success, a new family resource designed to make that partnership easier.
Each month, Thrive at Home will explore one simple focus that can make a meaningful difference in your child’s success. Families will find a short audio overview, practical tips, helpful resources, conversation starters, and an easy-to-use family toolkit with ideas you can put into practice right away.

When students know they are valued, supported, and an important part of their school community, they are more likely to participate, persevere through challenges, and feel confident as learners. That sense of belonging grows even stronger when children experience consistent messages and support both at school and at home.
This month, we’re encouraging families to try a few simple habits:

Create predictable routines that help school days begin and end successfully.

Set family learning goals and talk about what you hope to accomplish together this year.

Practice growth mindset conversations that celebrate effort, strategies, mistakes, and progress.

Stay connected to school and show your child that their learning matters.
You don’t need to do everything at once. Choose one or two ideas that work for your family and start there. Small actions, practiced consistently, can have a powerful impact.

⏰ Attendance
Students should be in their seats by 8:00 AM each school day. 🧒 TK PM & Kindergarten PM students start at 11:45 AM Monday–Thursday and 8:00 AM on Fridays.
Students arriving after 8:05 AM (or after their scheduled start time) must be signed in at the Front Office by a parent/guardian. 📝 Please refer to the Bell Schedule and Academic Calendar when planning appointments or vacations.
📚 Short-Term Independent Study (ST-IS)
ST-IS is available for qualifying absences due to illness, medical appointments, or planned family vacations. Requests must be made through the Front Office and are available for up to 15 school days. Longer requests require Administrative approval.
✍️ A Parent Agreement must be signed, and all assigned work must be completed and returned by the due date to receive attendance credit.
Important: If you signed the ST-IS Agreement at Back to School Night, you must still come into the Front Office to sign the agreement before requesting Independent Study.

We’re excited to invite families of students in 6th–8th grade to a virtual Spring Break Overnight Trips Parent Information Session to learn more about the unforgettable educational travel experiences we are exploring for our Wolves.

Our student travel experiences are designed to give Wolves opportunities to explore new environments, engage in hands-on learning, build independence, and make lasting memories alongside their classmates.
Spring Break Travel Opportunities
🌎 Costa Rica | 8th Grade — CONFIRMED
Our 8th-grade Wolves will have the opportunity to experience the biodiversity and cultural richness of Costa Rica! This immersive international experience is designed to expand students’ global perspectives through exploration, culture, service, and real-world learning. Additional details about the confirmed Costa Rica trip will be shared during the session.
🔬California STEM Experience | 6th–8th Grade — PROPOSED
A potential hands-on travel experience centered around STEM exploration, discovery, and learning beyond the classroom.
🏔️ Pali Institute | 6th–7th Grade — PROPOSED
A potential outdoor education experience where students can learn, collaborate, challenge themselves, and grow in a unique mountain environment.
During the session, we’ll introduce these opportunities, share available trip details, and help families begin thinking ahead about their student’s Spring Break experience.

ASA families, completing the Universal Benefits Application (UBA) can help your child qualify for valuable benefits, including Summer EBT/SUN Bucks, internet access, school transportation, and more.
Your participation also helps Allegiance STEAM Academy qualify for grants and additional funding that directly support programs and services for our students. Completing the application does not affect your student’s ability to receive free school meals.
📅 Important SUN Bucks Deadline: To establish eligibility for California’s 2026 SUN Bucks (Summer EBT) benefit, families must submit the application by August 31, 2026. Applications for other purposes will continue to be accepted throughout the school year.

Parents, to ensure a faster and safer dismissal , please follow these reminders:
🚗 Carline: Have your placard 📄 clearly displayed on your dashboard.
🚶 Front Gate: Have your placard 📄 in your hand.
Forgot your placard? You can:
- Park and pick up a new one at the office 🏢
- Have a clear picture of your placard on your phone 📱

⚠️ Students will not be called for dismissal without a placard.
Boys & Girls Club: If your student is enrolled in the Boys & Girls Club, they will be released and checked in during dismissal. Students must be picked up and signed out by the Boys & Girls Club at the side gate.
🚶♂️🚶♀️ Walking Home: Walking waivers were included as part of the parent registration process for the 2026–2027 school year. If you have questions regarding your student’s walking waiver or not sure if you completed one, please contact the Front Office at 909-258-9937.

Keep Your Den Clean means creating a safe, organized, and respectful environment for all students. Cleaning up after yourself shows responsibility and demonstrates that you care about your school community.
At ASA, we are always practicing ways to keep our den clean by cleaning up after ourselves in the classroom, on the playground, at lunch, and throughout our school. When everyone does their part, we can keep our school safe, welcoming, and ready for learning! 💚

We know our families and Wolves are eager for updates on our campus environment. We want to provide our families with an update on our physical campus—both the direct improvements our team has implemented and the status of district-managed projects.
School-Led Improvements
To ensure our students have a secure and comfortable learning environment, our ASA Fontana team has directly initiated and completed several recent upgrades:

Upgraded Security Surveillance: A comprehensive security camera system is currently being installed across campus to enhance overall safety and monitoring.

Filtered Water Hydration Station: A new filtered water refill station has been installed, giving students easy access to clean drinking water throughout the day.

Targeted Climate Control: In response to an outage in one of our classroom AC units, FUSD installed a mobile air conditioning unit to keep the space comfortable until the primary unit's full replacement.
District-Managed Property & Playground Status
Because ASA Fontana leases our campus facility, capital improvements and structural property developments are managed through Fontana Unified School District (FUSD).
While the initial playground installation phase has been completed on the campus, the space requires a few remaining finishing items and final safety inspections before it can be officially opened for regular student use.

Prioritizing Student Safety: Ensuring the space fully meets all required safety and operational standards is top priority. The playground area will open once final clearance steps are complete by FUSD.

Ongoing Coordination: Our administration remains in regular communication with district staff to receive updates on the project schedule, final inspections, and next steps for completion.
We share our families' enthusiasm for a fully completed campus and appreciate your patience while these final property details are finalized. We will continue to share updates as soon as confirmed timelines are provided by the district.
