Celebrating Labor Day & Math Growth at ASA!

Happy Labor Day to all our hardworking families and staff! šŸŽ‰

Labor Day began in the late 19th century to honor the hard work and dedication of workers across the country. It became a federal holiday in 1894 and is celebrated each year on the first Monday in September as a way to recognize the contributions of working people to our nation’s strength and prosperity.

This year, math is a schoolwide priority, and one of the best ways to support our wolves is by making math part of daily life. Some simple ideas:
  • Ask younger students quick math questions (like ā€œHow many days until Friday?ā€).
  • Notice real-world math—counting, measuring, estimating, or keeping track of time.
  • Have older students help with budgeting, comparing prices, or estimating travel time.
  • Celebrate effort and encourage a growth mindset by reminding them, ā€œMistakes help your brain grow.ā€

šŸ“… Family Math Night—Equipping Families for Math Success
Join us Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 5:00–6:00 p.m. for our first event in this series.
✨ Theme: Growth Starts Here—Developing Mathematical Mindsets

We’ll focus on the power of growth mindset in math, avoiding ā€œI’m not a math personā€ language, and strategies for building math confidence at home.

Count Me In! We hope your family will join us to celebrate math, build confidence, and show our wolves that effort matters.

Enjoy the three-day weekend, and Happy Labor Day again to all our hardworking families and staff!

With appreciation,
Mrs. Valenta 🐾

Family Math Night- SAVE THE DATE-Sept 3rd 5pm-6pm

Why Math at ASA?
Supporting Every Student’s Journey Toward Opportunity, Confidence, and Innovation

At Allegiance STEAM Academy, we are deeply committed to providing every student with the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to thrive — not only today, but well into the future. As part of that commitment, we are placing a school-wide focus on strengthening math learning across all grade levels this year.

Here’s why:
Ā Math is a Gateway to Opportunity
Math is more than just numbers — it’s a powerful predictor of success in school, college, and life. Research shows that readiness for Algebra by 8th grade is one of the strongest indicators of high school graduation and college achievement. By helping students build a strong math foundation early, we are opening doors to their future.

Ā Math Builds the Skills that Matter Most
In today’s world, students need more than content — they need to think critically, solve problems, and innovate. Math teaches exactly that. Whether students are learning to estimate, create models, or reason through complex situations, they are building the same skills used by engineers, doctors, designers, entrepreneurs, and other changemakers.
STEAM Careers Start with Strong Math Skills

As a STEAM school, we prepare students for a world full of exciting careers — from robotics to renewable energy, from biotech to aerospace. These fields demand strong math skills, and our students deserve to be ready for them.

Families Play a Powerful Role
You don’t need to be a math expert to support your child’s learning. What matters most is your encouragement, curiosity, and growth mindset. When students hear, ā€œI believe in you,ā€ or ā€œLet’s figure this out together,ā€ it makes a big difference.

This year, we’ll be offering Family Math Nights, resources, and ongoing communication to help you feel confident and supported.

Our Promise
We’re committed to making math:
  • Equitable: All students can succeed in math with the right support.

  • Engaging: Math should feel meaningful and connected to the real world.

  • Empowering: Students will build confidence and see themselves as capable thinkers and doers.

Let’s work together to help our students thrive in math — because their future is worth it.

ASA’s first event for the family math series Equipping Families for Math Success is scheduled for Wednesday, September 3, 2025 from 5pm-6pm

The theme of this night is Growth Starts Here: Developing Mathematical Mindsets. The focus for this evening will be in changing how we talk about and approach math. Topics will include: the power of a growth mindset in math, avoiding ā€œI am not a math personā€ language, and strategies for building math confidence at home.Ā

We hope you’ll say, ā€œCount Me In!ā€ and we’ll see you there.Ā

Counseling Program Information

What is School Counseling?

School counseling supports students with their academic, personal, and social development. We provide guidance on setting goals, resolving conflicts, and overcoming school-related challenges. Unlike therapy, which addresses deeper emotional issues and involves longer term support, school counseling focuses on immediate needs and short-term strategies.Ā
Responsive Services include crisis, work refusal, grief, friendship problems, self-regulation difficulties, and more. Requests typically entail student check-in, parent contact, teacher/admin consult, and follow-ups as needed.Ā
Short term individual services can also be provided for students in areas of school related challenges. Therapy referrals for deeper concerns can also be coordinated with the help of Care Solace.
